“The Power of Habits”
The real key to understanding the power of habits is to learn how to harness their power. Much of what we as humans do is done out of habit.
Generally if we have good habits we will have good actions, success and a good life. If we have bad habits the opposite is usually the case. Therefore it is important to form good habits. Remember good habits may be hard to form, but they are easy to live with. Bad habits are often easy to form, but they are hard to live with.
Every lesson, technique etc, we teach in karate can be related to the power of habits and the process of forming good habits. Teaching how to spar is essentially an exercise in teaching good habits. A good stance, bounce, lead hand high, attack with combinations, be a good sport, have fun and be a team player. Everything else is technical details.
